Preventing Ruin
“If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”
So said Samuel Adams, one of our nation’s founding fathers, in a letter to James Warren, dated October 24, 1780. In the letter, Sam Adams tried to talk his friend into continuing with public service rather than retiring. He knew our young nation needed men of character and principle to lead and to keep the country from running headlong back into the tyranny from which it had just escaped.
Mr. Adams understood human nature. He knew that power is intoxicating and that those vested with power too often wield it unwisely and love it too much. This problem was not new then, and nothing has changed since 1780.
We now live in an era when “for the sake of public health,” politicians have wielded power in a manner heretofore unknown in this country. During COVID, politicians have barred the use of early treatment protocols and threatened the livelihoods of honest, hard working Americans if they don’t acquiesce to a shot. Those same politicians have forced masks on developing children and barred them from school if they do not comply…all while they and their friends swan about mask free.
Furthermore, we now live in an era when critical theory and intersectionality too often govern how our children are taught. There is pornography in school libraries. There are adults in school settings encouraging pre-pubescent children to become transgender. These ideologies are pushed by federal- and state-level politicians, political activists, and local school boards.
This journalistic endeavor has a lot of ground to cover. Those in positions of power have given us plenty of topics to investigate and policy to scrutinize. As Sam Adams hoped we would, we will keep a watchful eye on those whom we, as a nation, have exalted to power.
Preventing Ruin is a group of simple, every day American patriots who are dedicated to investigating those in power and publishing truth. We stand at the end of a long line of patriots stretching back to our nation’s founding fathers. We hope you will join us. As Charles F. Browne stated, “We can’t all be Washingtons, but we can all be patriots.”
